Half day guided tour in Padua with Pedrocchi coffee
Padua is known for its cultural and architectural attractions, but this city also tells the story of man’s journey in scientific research and knowledge, thanks to its important university reality.
We will start from the Euganean Spas with a private minivan to reach Prato della Valle, one of the largest and most beautiful squares in Europe.
Accompanied by our tour leader, we will walk to those places of Padua where studies, research and ancient knowledge are so important. At Palazzo Bo we will visit the Anatomical Theater, where, until 1872, medicine and anatomy lessons were held with bodies for autopsies.
The classrooms of the palace are decorated with frescoes and mosaics and were used for academic lessons. Galileo Galilei has held lessons at the Bo for 10 years and we can find his chair in the Sala dei Quaranta, so called to indicate the most famous students, painted on the walls. Many students attended the lessons of the scientist who was the only one who could also use the immense and prestigious Aula Magna, which takes its name.
Finally, to feel a real Paduan, do not miss the opportunity to taste the famous mint coffee, served without a spoon because it is already sweetened, in the historic Caffè Pedrocchi.
The tour is also recommended for families with children.
