The Euganean Hills are one of the most beautiful hilly area in the north of Italy, completely surrounded by a cycling path, next to the city of Padua, in the inland of Venice.
Bikes delivery and free parking at the Resort Radisson blu at Galzignano Terme very close to the Bike ring of the Euganean hills.
You will follow the bike path and part of the same road that the great Italian poet, Francesco Petrarca, followed from Padua to his house in Arquà at the end of the Forteenth century. You will reach the walled town of Monselice and then Arquà Petrarca, one of the best preserved medieval villages and considered the second most lovely village in Italy.
In Arquà you can visit the memorial house of the poet and you can taste the famous Brodo di giuggiole, a delicious local liquor.
Finally you reach Lispida Castle. From the Lispida hill for many centuries the trachyte, the gray volcanic stone used to pave the squares and streets in Venice, was extracted and transported along waterways to Venice.
On the way back, you will stop in a local winery of the Euganean hills for a tasting of 3 wines paired with local products (salami and cheese). You will grasp the character of each wine and understand how it strictly depends on that of the vine from which it originates.
