SELF GUIDED DAY TRIP FORM EUGANEAN HILLS TO CHIOGGIA
Your tour starts at Euganean Spas, not far away from Padua and Venice. You will reach by bike Chioggia, a water-based city, cycling along the “Bike path of salt and sugar”. The name is related to the sugar beets coltivate in the Euganean Hills and then transported by boats to Cagnola and Pontelongo to the sugar industries. From there the sugar was transported to Venice. Contrarily the salt, precious condiment for preservation of the food, was transported from Venice to the hilly area.
You will follow the green ways of this territory, the Vigenzone the canal along which boats full of cereals, wine, oil, fruits, wood and stone navigated to Venice in the past. In the afternoon, once you arrive at Chioggia, you will discover traditions, stories and the typical life of this water-based city.
At h 17:00 meeting in Chioggia for the transfer back to the starting point.
